Kickers Dominate as Giants Secure Hard-Fought Victory Over Titans

The New York Giants secured a narrow 12-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, largely thanks to the stellar performances of kicker Dominic Zvada and punter Jordan Stout. In challenging weather conditions at MetLife Stadium, the kicking duo accounted for all of the Giants' scoring and consistently shifted field position in their team's favor.

Rookie kicker Zvada, an undrafted player from Michigan, was perfect on the day, making all four of his field goal attempts. His successful kicks, including two from 39 yards, 30 yards, and 27 yards, provided the only points for the Giants in the low-scoring affair. Right guard Francis Mauigoa commended Zvada's performance, stating, "I see it in practice. There’s a reason why he won the job. He earned all of our trust."

Punter Jordan Stout, a first-team All-Pro last season, also played a crucial role. Stout averaged 50.5 yards on six punts, including a long of 74 yards. Significantly, he pinned the Titans inside their own 20-yard line on three occasions. Head coach John Harbaugh highlighted the impact of the special teams unit, noting, "How about the punt team? How about the field position that was flipped? We had numerous long punts with great coverage, even created a few penalties that backed them up even a little further from the top of the catch."

The game was largely a field-position battle, with the adverse weather conditions limiting offensive effectiveness for both teams. The Giants' advantage on special teams proved to be the decisive factor in their ability to climb above .500. Stout acknowledged the difficult conditions, remarking, "I didn’t expect there to be a — what do you call it? — a nor’easter? I didn’t expect one of those to come through this early. Hopefully it’s gonna keep getting better, the weather."

The win moved the Giants to a 2-1 record, with their kicking game playing a pivotal role in their early-season success.
