Keyshawn Johnson Calls for Cowboys' Coaching Staff to Be Fired After Loss

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson has publicly called for the team to fire its coaching staff, including head coach Brian Schottenheimer, after the Cowboys suffered a surprising 24-16 loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football.

Johnson, speaking in a video posted on X, did not hold back his criticism of the team's performance and leadership. "Man, f--k the Cowboys," Johnson stated. "Get rid of the coach. Get rid of the defensive coordinator. I know you don’t want to fire people in the middle of the season, but it’s time. It’s literally time."

The Cowboys entered the game as significant favorites against a Buccaneers team that had not yet secured a victory.

Johnson specifically questioned Schottenheimer's qualifications and coaching decisions, referencing his previous dismissal from Seattle. "You hired a coach based on what? He got fired in Seattle. This ain’t no Kyle Shanahan. He ain’t no Ben Johnson," Johnson said. "You hired him based off his Daddy’s last name. He ain’t his father. He’s a long way from Marty!"

The frustration extended to other Cowboys figures, with Johnson mocking former player Michael Irvin's prediction that Dallas would reach the NFC Championship Game. "NFC Championship game? Man, you can’t even beat an NFC opponent," Johnson remarked. "My boy Michael Irvin is the laughingstock right now."

Adding to the criticism, quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledged the team's poor performance when a stadium worker reportedly called the loss "embarrassing" as Prescott headed to the locker room. "Not that they’re wrong," Prescott admitted after the game.

The Cowboys' offensive struggles were evident, culminating in a game-ending interception by Prescott. The team's inability to perform under pressure has drawn significant scrutiny, with former players and analysts questioning the direction of the franchise under owner Jerry Jones.
