Kevin Durant Responds to Suns Owner's Comments on Trade
NBA star Kevin Durant fired back at Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia on social media after Ishbia commented on the team's trade for Durant.
Kevin Durant has publicly responded to comments made by Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia regarding the trade that brought Durant to the team. Durant took to the social media platform X to refute Ishbia's remarks.
Ishbia, speaking about the acquisition of Durant, stated, “I kind of just threw money at the problem. Bringing in super-talented players like Kevin Durant doesn’t necessarily lead to championships.”
Durant responded on X, posting, "#blameKD even though KD stayed on top of his game at 36 and got u back this “culture” you love so much. Aye, Matthew acts like I got arrested for a DUI or sumn. Back to threads 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂."
The Suns traded Durant in July 2025 to the Rockets as part of a seven-team deal. Durant’s tenure with the Suns was marked by a single playoff series win and a missed postseason during the 2024-25 season.
During his two and a half seasons with the Suns, Durant averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. Reports indicated that prior to the 2025 trade deadline, the Suns explored a multi-team trade to send Durant back to the Golden State Warriors.
Durant has previously stated that he learned of these trade discussions from external sources and expressed initial displeasure, as the Suns' front office had not directly informed him. This reportedly impacted the relationship between Durant and the team.
