Ken Paxton's Estranged Wife Urges Republican Women to Vote Party Over Individual

Angela Paxton, the estranged wife of Texas Attorney General and Republican US Senate nominee Ken Paxton, has broken her silence since their divorce on 'biblical grounds' last year, urging Republican women to prioritize party loyalty over individual candidates. Speaking to the Texas Federation of Republican Women, she advised the group to vote for all candidates on the Republican ticket, including her ex-husband, stating, "It's not the people — it's the seat."

Her remarks, shared via a video posted to Facebook by a local activist, mark her first public comments on the US Senate race. Angela Paxton emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining party control of elected positions. "We have more control over that seat and the future when we control the seat — when it's still in the family, even if we're mad at them," she explained. She cautioned that losing a seat to the opposing party would make addressing specific candidate issues insignificant compared to the challenge of regaining control.

Despite her plea for party unity, Democratic challenger James Talarico currently holds a slight lead over Ken Paxton in the Senate race, according to a recent poll. The ReconMR and Siena Research Institute poll showed Talarico ahead by six points, with 49 percent to Paxton's 43 percent.

The divorce between Ken and Angela Paxton, who married in 1986, was filed in the summer of 2025. Angela cited "biblical grounds" following revelations of multiple infidelities. Ken Paxton was impeached in 2023 on accusations of hiring a woman with whom he had an affair. Angela, a Texas State Senator, was present during his impeachment trial but did not vote on the outcome; he was ultimately acquitted by the Texas Senate.

Following the divorce filing, Ken Paxton released a statement attributing the separation to "the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny." News reports have linked him to Tracy Duhon, a Christian influencer and businesswoman. The two reportedly began a relationship after meeting at the Kentucky Derby in 2024. Sources have indicated they have taken trips together, both domestically and internationally. Duhon has reportedly purchased a $2 million mansion in Frisco, Texas, where she and Paxton have allegedly been residing.

While Talarico has generally characterized Ken Paxton as untrustworthy, he has refrained from directly attacking his family values or faith on the campaign trail. Instead, his campaign has focused on framing Paxton as untrustworthy without delving into personal misconduct.
