Kelly Rutherford and Son Hermes Shine at Milan Fashion Week
The 'Gossip Girl' star and her model son made a stylish appearance at the Tod's SS27 show.
Kelly Rutherford, known for her role in "Gossip Girl," attended the Tod's Spring/Summer 2027 show at Milan Fashion Week alongside her son, Hermes, on Friday. The 20-year-old model, whom Rutherford shares with ex-husband Daniel Giersch, garnered attention at the event, marking their first public appearance together in 18 months.
Hermes, dressed in ivory trousers, a white crew neck shirt, and a camel-colored suede shirt jacket, completed his look with aviator sunglasses and light grey sneakers. Rutherford, 57, wore a grey pantsuit layered with a dark leather jacket and carried a small tan handbag. Her blonde hair was styled back from her face.
The mother-son pair were last seen together in January 2025 during Paris Fashion Week. Rutherford has previously spoken about the challenging international custody battle she faced with her ex-husband, German businessman Daniel Giersch, following their divorce in 2010. The legal fight, which lasted six years and reportedly cost nearly $2 million in legal fees, centered on her children, Hermes and 17-year-old Helena.
A judge in Monaco granted Rutherford joint custody of the children, but they were ordered to reside full-time with Giersch in Monaco due to his work visa issues. This situation required Rutherford to move to Monaco or make frequent visits to see her children. In an interview on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast in October 2025, Rutherford described the ordeal as feeling like her "heart had been ripped out."
She reflected on the experience as a difficult learning process, emphasizing the importance of focus and resilience. Rutherford also noted that being on set for "Gossip Girl" served as a valuable distraction during that period, allowing her to cope by focusing on her work and showing up each day.
