Kelly Ripa Taps Producer, Not Husband Mark Consuelos, to Handle Her Funeral Arrangements
The talk show host insists her stylist, not her husband, would dress her for her own memorial service.
Kelly Ripa has designated a producer, not her husband Mark Consuelos, to be in charge of her funeral arrangements, citing specific preferences for her memorial service.
During a segment on "Live with Kelly and Mark," Ripa discussed a story about a woman who organized her own funeral while still alive. Ripa expressed understanding for the woman's actions, stating she also has several requirements for her own celebration of life. She told longtime producer Michael Gelman, "It's going to be a destination," and that she expects him to fulfill all her requests.
When Consuelos asked if he would be responsible for dressing her for the funeral, Ripa immediately rejected the idea. "No! If Gelman is throwing my funeral, my stylist is getting me dressed," she stated.
Ripa further elaborated that she and Consuelos have previously discussed that he should not be in charge of dressing her for any occasion, recounting an incident where he dressed her for a hospital visit. She described arriving at the emergency room in a green leotard, soccer pants, and high heels after passing out, humorously noting she felt she looked so bad that she "sailed in right past the gunshot victims."
Consuelos clarified, "So, I’m not in charge of getting you ready for the funeral? I’m not in charge of that?" Ripa confirmed, "Put everybody in charge of what they’re typically in charge of. Everybody has their typical jobs. You be there, you eulogize, say nice things."
The couple is known for their playful on-air exchanges. Last year, they engaged in a heated discussion about an "airport divorce," a concept Ripa proposed where they would go their separate ways while traveling, which Consuelos seemed to find irritating. This exchange followed Ripa's comment about Consuelos getting irritated when fans approach them at the airport.
