Kelly Ripa Recounts Mark Consuelos' Post-Anesthesia Antics

Kelly Ripa has shared details of her husband Mark Consuelos' peculiar actions after he awoke from anesthesia following a "major" surgery. Consuelos, 55, underwent a procedure to address an arthritic joint in his toe.

On Monday, Consuelos joined Ripa, also 55, on their television program, arriving on a knee scooter. Ripa explained that the propofol anesthesia had a notable effect on her spouse. "Typically, I would have a video to show you but there are signs everywhere in the recovery rooms now saying you aren't allowed to record the patients recovering," Ripa told viewers. "I will recreate it for you here on the talk show!"

Ripa recounted that Consuelos was "very funny" and that she heard him before she saw him due to loud snoring. She also shared his repeated inquiries about whether the surgery had commenced, asking "about 30 or 40 times," and his confusion once it was completed. "Did they get it? Did they get the whole thing?" Consuelos reportedly asked. Ripa confirmed, "Yeah, they got it. The whole bone spur."

Consuelos also struggled to recognize his wife of 30 years, asking, "Who are you?" Ripa responded, "I'm your wife," to which he replied, "No."

Later, Consuelos made a joke to a nurse about the numbing medication, saying, "Num, num, num, num," as if affectionately nibbling his toe. The nurse, Ripa noted, had "no reaction," having likely heard stranger comments from other patients.
