Kelly Osbourne has shared that she wore a wig to the Grammy Awards earlier this year in an attempt to conceal her drastically thin appearance, which she said was a result of the grief following her father Ozzy Osbourne's death.

Osbourne, 41, stated that she was unaware of how thin she had become until she saw a photograph of herself during a dress fitting for the awards ceremony. "I looked like the f****** Crypt Keeper," she told The Mail on Sunday. "I said, 'This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this'. My spine – you could see every single bone."

Her friends and family had expressed concern over her frail appearance for months. Osbourne explained that the overwhelming grief after her father's passing in July 2025 made it difficult for her to perceive her own condition. "I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain," she said. "I just saw a broken person."

To avoid drawing attention away from her father's legacy, which was being celebrated at the Grammys, Osbourne opted for a wig to hide her cheekbones. "I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn't see how skinny my cheekbones really were," she recounted. Her stylists also worked to find clothing that would de-emphasize her weight loss.

"I was scared. I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father's legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well," Osbourne admitted.

She described experiencing nausea when attempting to eat, stating, "You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up."

Despite her own distress, Osbourne made efforts to shield her three-year-old son, Sidney, from her grief. "Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me and I'd snap into Miss Fun Mum," she said. "I didn't cry in front of him; I'd walk out of the room. I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow."

Sidney, Osbourne's son, shared a close bond with his grandfather. Osbourne described her son as a mini-version of her father, noting that he has adopted some of Ozzy's mannerisms and personality traits. Sidney continues to visit his grandfather's grave daily, leaving a feather and sharing details about his day.

Ozzy Osbourne died at his Buckinghamshire home at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025. His death occurred less than three weeks after his final concert in Birmingham. A funeral procession drew tens of thousands of fans, and his family paid respects at Black Sabbath Bridge.

Kelly Osbourne plans to create a three-part television series documenting her experience with grief and recovery. She stated that the series will explore aspects of her story that are not widely known, focusing on bereavement and mental health. "The person I was before my dad died is dead," she said. "That person doesn't exist anymore."
