Kelly Osbourne Shares Weight Gain, Discusses Grief and Sobriety
The singer revealed a two-stone weight gain in six months, attributing her struggles to the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, and her subsequent relapse into alcohol use.
Kelly Osbourne has shared that she has gained two stone in the past six months, admitting she was surprised by her appearance in recent photos. The singer, 41, previously sparked concern at the BRITs ceremony earlier this year when she appeared considerably slimmer.
Osbourne, who denies using weight loss medications, has experienced a challenging period following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, in July 2025, and a split from her fiancé, Sid Wilson. Seven months after the BRITs event, Osbourne stated she is in a better place and revealed her recent weight gain.
She also addressed speculation about an eating disorder, clarifying that she did not have one but struggled to care for herself. "No one knows what people are dealing with in private, I was just sad," Osbourne said in an interview with The Sun. "I don't wish that pain on anyone ever. And to do that in front of everyone just sucked."
Osbourne has been open about her lifelong insecurities regarding her weight, which began during her teenage years on the family's reality show, "The Osbournes." She recalled being told by an agency head that she was "too fat for TV" and needed to lose weight to be considered a "movie star."
Her weight journey has included significant changes. In 2018, she underwent gastric sleeve surgery, which she described as "the best thing I have ever done." This, combined with a strict diet and exercise regimen, led to an 85-pound weight loss. However, pregnancy with her son Sidney in 2022 resulted in a 100-pound weight gain and the development of gestational diabetes, which led her to avoid public appearances.
Sources close to Osbourne indicated that her motivation for weight loss has been to remain healthy for her child, especially after her father's passing. "She wants to be around for her kid and play and be with her kid for a long time, and now that she lost her dad, she sees that being something even more important," one source said. "She doesn't want to be the weight she used to be and she is going to do whatever she needs to do to stay skinny."
Osbourne has consistently refuted rumors about using medications like Ozempic, stating, "I did not take Ozempic. I don't know where that came from. My mom took Ozempic," she told Extra.
Despite her personal struggles, those around Osbourne are monitoring her health, though not seeking an intervention. "Nobody near her is looking to provide an intervention, but people have noticed and are monitoring it," a source told the Daily Mail. "Kelly is definitely not concerned with how she looks and would tell anyone that would bring it up to her to go screw off, but she does get upset over people talking about it."
Further detailing her recent struggles, Osbourne revealed on Paul C Brunson's podcast, "We Need To Talk," that she relapsed into drinking following her father's death. She described a period of intense grief where she was unable to care for herself, feeling like "a shell of myself."
Osbourne, who has a history of battling drug and alcohol addiction, stated that she is now eight months sober. She credits her recovery to the support of her close circle, having intentionally reduced her social contacts to focus on her well-being. "I have the most incredible people around me. I closed my circle because I lost a lot of friends because people don't like sadness and they expected me to be over it," she explained.
She elaborated that her past substance use was never about partying but rather an attempt to escape emotional pain. "I never did drugs because I wanted a party. I never drank because I wanted a party. I just didn't want to feel the pain."
Osbourne has returned to the UK, where she spent her early childhood before moving to Los Angeles. She is currently focused on building a new life for herself.
