Kelly Osbourne Relocates to England for Son's Upbringing, Citing US Gun Culture

Kelly Osbourne has moved her four-year-old son, Sidney, to the English countryside, seeking to offer him a childhood distinct from her own experiences and influenced by concerns over gun culture in the United States. Osbourne, 41, the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, shares Sidney with her ex-fiancé Sid Wilson, a member of the band Slipknot.

The move signifies a significant shift for Osbourne, who spent nearly three decades living in Los Angeles before returning to England with her son. She cited a desire to provide Sidney with a more grounded upbringing, away from the extensive travel and exposure she felt was detrimental to him. "At first, when he was younger and we were on the road a lot [with Sidney's dad's band Slipknot], I was like: 'This is great. He gets to grow up just like me.' And then I thought: 'No, this actually isn't healthy for him and this is exposing him to too much. I've got to get him home,'" Osbourne told The Sun. She added that she and her ex-fiancé had always intended for their child to be raised in England.

Osbourne also expressed apprehension about the prevalence of gun violence in the U.S., a factor that contributed to her decision. Sidney is now attending the same village school Osbourne went to before her family relocated to Los Angeles when she was 13. Osbourne has actively embraced her role as a parent in the English community, participating in Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings and school events.

This relocation follows a period of personal struggle for Osbourne. In a recent appearance on Paul C Brunson's podcast, "We Need To Talk," she revealed that she relapsed into drinking following the death of her father. Osbourne described the grief as overwhelming, leading to a period where she felt unable to care for herself and "lost my mind."

Osbourne, who has publicly discussed her history with addiction, stated that she is now eight months sober. She credits a strong support system for her recovery and has consciously narrowed her circle of friends, noting that some people struggled to accept her ongoing grief. "I will never be over it. I will never ever be over it," she stated regarding her father's passing.

Previously, Osbourne had shared in 2021 that she had relapsed after nearly four years of sobriety, an experience she attributed to a single glass of champagne that escalated into heavier drinking before she re-entered recovery. She clarified that her past struggles with substances were not driven by a desire to party but by an attempt to escape emotional pain.

Osbourne is now focused on establishing a new life in the UK, aiming to foster a stable and nurturing environment for Sidney, a stark contrast to the public and often tumultuous life she experienced growing up and as a young adult.
