Kelly Clarkson Sparked Threats Against Brooklyn Toy Shop, Owner Claims
A Brooklyn toy shop owner alleges Kelly Clarkson's reaction to an interaction over a $15,000 mechanical bird led to thousands of threats against his business.
The co-owner of a Brooklyn toy shop claims that singer Kelly Clarkson's public remarks about an interaction at his store have resulted in thousands of threats directed at his business. Adam Rubin, co-owner of the Art of Play curiosity shop, stated that Clarkson was upset because she was "treated like everybody else."
According to Rubin, the incident began when Clarkson, 44, asserted that an employee belittled her and questioned her ability to afford a unique mechanical bird displayed in the store. Rubin clarified that the item, a robotic singing and dancing bird named "Molly," is permanently affixed to the wall and not for sale. He also noted that Clarkson did not express a desire to commission a custom piece.
Rubin told The Post that the situation escalated due to what he described as Clarkson's "perverse distortion of reality." He emphasized that all customers are treated equally at his establishment. "Everybody that comes into the store is treated the same, like a normal person," Rubin said. "That’s what pissed her off. She didn’t get special treatment."
The Art of Play shop is located in Brooklyn. The mechanical bird in question, described as a one-of-a-kind automaton, is valued at $15,000,000.
