Kelly Clarkson Returns to Stage Amidst Brooklyn Store Feud
The singer performed in Las Vegas following a public dispute with a New York shop over a toy bird.
Kelly Clarkson took the stage in Las Vegas on Wednesday, marking her first performance since a widely publicized dispute with the Brooklyn store Art of Play.
The Grammy winner performed a setlist of her hits, including “Strong (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “My Life Would Suck Without You,” at a corporate event held at Allegiant Stadium. During the performance, she appeared cheerful and energetic, showing no outward signs of the recent controversy.
Clarkson had recently called out Art of Play, a Brooklyn Heights curiosity shop, over an interaction she described as a "Pretty Woman" moment. The singer alleged she encountered a "rude and snobbish" employee at the store. The incident was reportedly captured on security camera footage, which was later released. Clarkson subsequently posted a negative review on X, formerly Twitter, stating, "So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it."
The store's co-owner, Adam Rubin, has characterized the feud as a "he-said, she-said thing," asserting that nothing dramatic occurred at the shop to warrant the public backlash against his business. Rubin also claimed that the toy bird Clarkson was interested in was a replica and not for sale, though a similar item had been offered.
Rubin further commented that he believed Clarkson was upset about not receiving preferential treatment and that the situation was "ludicrous." He has since humorously increased the price of the toy bird to $15 million. Sources close to Clarkson have described her as typically "chill" and not prone to making significant issues out of minor incidents.
