Kelly Brook, 46, has spoken candidly about a past complex love triangle involving actors Jason Statham and Billy Zane. The presenter shared her experiences on the television show Loose Women, explaining how she met Zane while still in a long-term relationship with Statham.
Brook described her seven-year relationship with Statham as having reached an "inevitable" end, which then led her to pursue a relationship with Zane. She recounted that during the time she met Zane, she felt she had outgrown her previous relationship and was entering a new phase of her life. "Someone coming along and seeing me for the woman that I had become rather than the girl I was made me step into that new person a lot more," Brook stated.
The conversation arose after the film Titanic, which starred Billy Zane, was recognized as having the best love triangle in cinema history. Brook admitted to past instances where emotional immaturity contributed to overlapping relationships. She noted that when she met Zane, she was 25 and felt he recognized her growth in a way her earlier partner, whom she had been with since age 18, had not.
Brook and Statham were engaged between 1997 and 2004. During their relationship, they moved to Los Angeles as Statham's acting career began to gain momentum. Brook acknowledged that while his career flourished, her own felt stagnant, leading to feelings of neglect as she provided support for his burgeoning career without receiving the same in return. She explained on a podcast that she eventually fell out of love with Statham because she felt he hadn't been supportive of her.
Brook recounted that Statham questioned her decision to end the relationship, emphasizing his success. She also mentioned that Statham's hesitations regarding marriage and children played a role in her subsequent romance with Zane. They met in 2004 on the set of the film Survival Island, also known as Three.
Brook and Zane became engaged and lived together, but their relationship ended in 2008, with reports suggesting Brook felt Zane was not the person she wanted to marry. Although they briefly reconciled in early 2008, the wedding plans were called off, and Brook announced she was too young to marry at 28. The couple split permanently in September 2008. Brook has since stated that her relationship with Zane was a "fling" and that she knew it would either solidify or end their relationship, which ultimately it did.
