Kelly Brook, 46, described her former fiancé Jason Statham as a "cliché" due to his perceived transformation after achieving Hollywood stardom in tough-guy roles. Brook made the remarks during an appearance on the television show Loose Women.
She stated that Statham, 59, began to change as his career in America gained momentum, noting a shift towards a more "macho, alpha" persona. "It all became a bit cliché for me," Brook said. "I was a bit like, 'Oh you're into that.' I didn't realise, I thought you were more into the arts."
Brook and Statham were in a relationship for seven years, ending in 2004. During their time together, Statham began appearing in major films, including "Snatch." Brook suggested that Statham may have "became his character" as his success grew.
Brook also discussed past relationships and love triangles, including her involvement with actor Billy Zane. She explained that she was dating Statham when she met Zane, leading to the end of her engagement to Statham. Brook described this period as a time of navigating emotional immaturity and a transition from being seen as a "girl" to a "woman."
She recalled feeling "neglected" as Statham's career took off, while her own "floundered." Brook told the podcast "How To Fail" that she fell out of love with Statham because he had not supported her in the way she had supported him. She ultimately ended the relationship, telling Statham, "Why are you leaving now? Look I'm a movie star and I'm a millionaire, why now?"
Brook also mentioned that Statham's reluctance to commit to marriage or children contributed to her pursuing a romance with Zane. Her engagement to Zane ended in 2008, with Brook stating she was too young to marry at 28.
Kelly Brook is now married to model Jeremy Parisi.
