Actor Kellan Lutz, known for his role as Emmett Cullen in the "Twilight" saga, has detailed his family's decision to leave California for Tennessee. Lutz, 41, stated on a recent episode of the "Inside of You" podcast with Michael Rosenbaum that the move occurred approximately three years ago, following the initial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lutz and his wife, Brittany Lutz, whom he married in 2017, relocated to Franklin, a suburb of Nashville, for family-related reasons. The couple shares two young children, Ashtyn Lilly, five, and Kasen Lane, four.
He expressed that the decision to move was influenced by his wife's family, who had also relocated to Tennessee. This move was intended to provide a support system for his wife and assistance with their children, especially when Lutz travels for work.
A specific instance that solidified their decision involved one of their children becoming ill. Lutz recalled his wife feeling overwhelmed and helpless, prompting her request for them to move closer to her family. He agreed, and they decided to commit to the move for a trial period of a couple of years.
Lutz noted that while he loved California, where his wife was born and raised, the shift to Tennessee offered what he described as a more peaceful environment. He highlighted the benefits of their life in Franklin, including owning land and participating in "great Bible studies, great churches, [and] great community."
He also observed that the entertainment industry is active in Tennessee, stating that he has attended more movie premieres in Franklin than he did in Los Angeles in recent years. Prior to his move to Tennessee, Lutz and his wife lived in Orange County, California, for five years.
Despite the positive aspects of their new life, Lutz acknowledged that they have had to adjust to the Tennessee weather, mentioning tornadoes as a concern for his wife. They also miss certain aspects of California life, specifically mentioning good sushi and Mexican food.
