Country music star Keith Urban is reportedly heartbroken following reports that his ex-wife, actress Nicole Kidman, has begun a new romance. According to New Idea, Urban, 58, was "absolutely devastated" to learn of Kidman, 59, and her alleged new relationship with private-equity businessman Michael Reinstein.
Photos have surfaced appearing to show Kidman and Reinstein looking affectionate during an outing in the Italian Riviera, with images capturing them holding hands and sharing a kiss. An insider claimed these images were a significant blow to Urban, who had allegedly held out hope for a reconciliation between him and Kidman.
"Up until now, the door had been firmly closed on his relationship with Nicole," the insider alleged. "But now he still had hopes there might be a chance at reconciliation. He's absolutely devastated and is going through that feeling of deep loss all over again."
The source further suggested that seeing Kidman move on might prompt Urban to reassess his own romantic future, though he reportedly prefers to keep any future relationships private. "Don't be surprised if Keith steps out with a 'revenge romance' of his own," the insider alleged. "He knows he has to move on."
Kidman and Urban were married for nearly two decades and share two daughters. The actress was seen with Reinstein enjoying an Aperol Spritz poolside, engaging in lighthearted conversation, and Reinstein was observed playfully lifting her hat.
A source close to Kidman told the Daily Mail that "After everything she went through with Keith, she deserves to find happiness." This source added that Kidman "never thought her marriage wouldn't work out and she tried as best as she could to keep her family intact." The insider also noted Kidman's contentment with her life and her close relationship with her daughters.
Reports of Kidman being linked to a "high-profile businessman" first surfaced in June, with online gossip site DeuxMoi reporting that the relationship had been quietly developing for months and kept out of the public eye.
Kidman and Urban's separation became public in September of the previous year, with their divorce being officially finalized in January. The pair had reportedly encountered difficulties in the summer of 2025, leading to a prolonged separation. They reached a settlement agreement to finalize the divorce shortly after the new year.
In an interview with Variety in March, Kidman spoke about the split, stating, "What I'm grateful for is my family, and keeping them as is, and moving forward. That's that." She added, "I'm staying in a place of, 'We are a family,' and that's what we'll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women."
When asked if she was "doing all right" after the split, Kidman replied, "I am, because I'm always going to be moving toward what's good."
