Keira Knightley Stars in Racy West End Production, "The Lives of Others"
Actress Knightley and Bridgerton's Luke Thompson share intimate scenes in a stage adaptation of the 1984 East Berlin-set film.
Keira Knightley attended the press night of her new West End production, "The Lives of Others," on Thursday, appearing alongside her co-star Luke Thompson. The play, a stage adaptation of the 2006 film of the same name, is set in East Berlin in 1984. Knightley, 41, portrays Christa-Maria Sieland, a theater actress involved with a playwright, Georg Dreyman, played by Thompson, 38.
The production features intimate scenes between the two leads. Descriptions suggest these moments are reminiscent of the popular Netflix series "Bridgerton," in which Thompson gained recognition for his role as Benedict Bridgerton. One scene involves Knightley in a nightgown and Thompson in his underwear. Sources have described the on-stage chemistry as intense, with one insider noting, "There are lots of jokes in the show about the couple having a lot of sex."
According to a warning for the play, the production contains mature themes including strong language, smoking, sexual coercion, rape, and suicide. The show opened on Thursday and will run until January. Tickets for the performance are priced up to £225.
Knightley and Thompson previously worked together on the 2020 film "Misbehaviour." Knightley recalled their earlier collaboration during a promotional appearance, initially forgetting they had shared the screen, attributing her lapse in memory to being in the early stages of pregnancy during filming. Thompson, who has since achieved wider fame as a Bridgerton cast member, reminded her of their previous work together.
