Sir Keir Starmer has announced he is to stand down as the Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras. This decision will trigger a by-election in the London constituency.

In a statement released to the Camden New Journal, Starmer described his 11 years representing the area as a "huge honour and privilege." He indicated that his future focus will be on "international affairs."

Starmer previously served as prime minister before stepping down earlier in the summer. Andy Burnham succeeded him in that role.
