Former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced his resignation from Parliament, stepping down as the Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras after 11 years.

Starmer shared his decision via social media, stating that he has reflected on his future and determined that now is the appropriate time to hand over the role to a successor. He expressed pride in his tenure representing the constituency, highlighting achievements such as affordable housing projects, the delivery of education services, and efforts to tackle youth violence through the Camden Youth Safety Taskforce.

In his statement, Starmer indicated a desire to concentrate on new areas of focus. "It is now time to step aside and focus on other issues: international affairs including defense, security, trade and technology in a fast changing world," he wrote. He also affirmed his commitment to continuing his long-standing work with others to address violence against women and girls.

Starmer took over the Holborn and St Pancras seat 11 years ago, succeeding Frank Dobson. He conveyed his gratitude to his constituency team and all those he collaborated with on local concerns during his time in Parliament.
