Sir Keir Starmer delivered his final address as prime minister on Monday, stating that his work was done and wishing Andy Burnham, the incoming prime minister, well.
Starmer's departure follows assurances that he would hold onto the post. He announced his intention to step down on June 22, four days after Burnham secured a seat in Westminster. Burnham now follows in the footsteps of former prime ministers Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak, and Liz Truss.
Starmer addressed a crowd on Downing Street, which offered applause following his speech.
