Indianapolis Colts receiver Keenan Allen remains in a holding pattern regarding potential criminal charges following his arrest on Sunday for driving under the influence. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office stated on Monday that they are awaiting laboratory results before making a formal charging decision.
Michael Leffler, a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office, confirmed that a request has been made to set an initial hearing within 20 days, a standard procedure for such cases while necessary lab work is completed. Allen was taken into custody around 1 a.m. Sunday after law enforcement observed his vehicle in a no-parking zone and initiated an investigation into suspected impairment.
Jail records indicate Allen was booked on one count each of DWI/DUI/OWI-endanger person and DWI/DUI/OWI-ACE .08 or more. He was released later that afternoon. Allen did not comment as he left the jail.
The Colts organization acknowledged awareness of the arrest on Sunday morning and stated they were gathering more information. Despite the ongoing situation, the team proceeded to include the 34-year-old receiver on their final 53-man roster. Allen, who previously played 12 seasons with the Chargers, signed with the Colts on August 18 after considering retirement. He participated in the team's preseason finale on Saturday, catching one pass for 24 yards.
