Actor posts blood-soaked image and thanks supporters while recovering from gunpoint robbery.
Pretty Little Liars star Keegan Allen is recovering after a brutal attack in West Hollywood where he was robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint. The 37-year-old actor shared a graphic photo on Instagram showing his cross necklace and shirt soaked in blood.
"Thank you all for such kind and caring messages," Allen wrote. "I’m on the mend. Really grateful to God, law enforcement, medical and my friends and following for being so supportive. I’ll update more soon. God bless and be safe."
Allen had previously revealed the assault in a video detailing the harrowing experience. He stated that two young men threatened him with a gun and a knife, demanding his watch. He expressed concern about the safety of the area, questioning the effectiveness of surveillance cameras in preventing crime.
"West Hollywood is not safe anymore," he said in the video, filmed shortly after the incident, with blood visibly running down his face. "Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have! God said no tonight. My life for a watch."
Surveillance footage reportedly shows two suspects approaching Allen as he opened his car door. The suspects allegedly pointed weapons at him before striking him multiple times in the head and stealing his watch and bracelet. Allen sustained a laceration above his eye that required stitches. He later confirmed in an Instagram comment that he was "def concussed."
The West Hollywood Sheriff's Department confirmed the attack occurred on Santa Monica Boulevard around 9:05 p.m. They are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has details about the suspects, who were described as two males dressed in black clothing and fled in an unknown vehicle.
Allen is widely known for his role as Toby Cavanaugh in the popular mystery series Pretty Little Liars, which aired from 2010 to 2017. More recently, he has appeared in the crime drama series Walker and an episode of The Rookie.
