Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom May Be Subpoenaed in Montecito Mansion Dispute

Pop star Katy Perry and her former partner Orlando Bloom could be called to testify in a protracted legal dispute concerning a $15 million Montecito, California mansion they purchased in 2020. The potential subpoenas stem from renewed legal filings in an ongoing case involving Carl Westcott, the founder of 1-800-Flowers, and Bernie Gudvi, Perry's business manager.

Westcott had previously sued over the 2020 sale of the eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom property, asserting he was incapacitated by painkillers following surgery at the time of the transaction. A judge ruled against Westcott in 2024, compelling the sale to Perry and ordering her to pay the remaining balance, approximately $4.06 million.

In recent legal documents filed on October 7, Westcott's attorneys requested an emergency hearing, alleging that Gudvi, who manages Perry's finances, has not fully settled the debt. According to the filing, Gudvi remitted a partial payment of $900,000 on June 30 but still owes the outstanding balance.

Westcott's legal team is seeking to issue subpoenas for Perry, 41, and Bloom, 49, to examine third parties. Their filing argues that Perry is Gudvi's primary agent responsible for the payment, while Bloom is a managing member of the LLC that took title to the house on May 17, 2024. Westcott's lawyers contend that Bloom would possess knowledge of Perry's assets.

Perry's attorneys, in a response filed on October 7, stated that Westcott's actions were an attempt to harass the involved parties as leverage for his pending appeals. They argued that Westcott cited no legal basis for pursuing post-judgment examinations of Perry and Bloom. Gudvi's legal team also indicated that the remaining sum is held in abeyance due to Westcott's appeal of a June 2026 decision that ordered him to pay Gudvi $3,415,257.07 plus interest for attorneys' fees and costs.

On October 8, Judge Joseph Lipner denied Westcott's ex parte application, stating that no emergency had been demonstrated and that any relief sought should be done through a noticed motion.

Perry and Bloom began dating in 2016 and welcomed their daughter Daisy in August 2020. The couple announced their separation in 2025. Perry has since been linked romantically with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Bloom has been reportedly seen with model Luisa Laemmel.
