Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau continued their vacation in Saint Tropez, engaging in public displays of affection while the singer voiced strong disapproval of the White House using her song "Firework" in a video depicting missile strikes.
Perry, 41, and Trudeau, 54, were observed on a boat and beach with family and friends. The couple, who began their relationship last summer, appeared affectionate, with Trudeau seen caressing Perry's shoulders.
Perry wore a brown bikini and a sarong, while Trudeau wore tan swim trunks. The sighting comes as Perry has publicly criticized the Trump administration for its use of her music.
"Firework" Controversy
Perry expressed outrage after the official White House TikTok account posted a montage of U.S. government missile attacks with the caption "Iran has been warned," set to her 2010 hit "Firework." The singer stated she did not approve of the song's use and called it a violation of its intended message of hope and healing.
"I am deeply appalled and angry to see ‘Firework’ used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes," Perry wrote on X. "I did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it. I wrote this song to be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength for people going through their darkest personal moments. To see a message of self-worth and upliftment weaponized to soundtrack destruction and violence is a complete violation of everything my song stands for. My music is for bringing people together, not celebrating warfare."
Perry sold the catalog rights to her music published through 2020 in a 2023 deal reportedly worth $225 million. However, her statement did not claim she had the right to block the White House's use of the song. She joins other artists, such as Kesha, who have also spoken out against the government's use of their music for political promotion.
Personal Life
Perry and Trudeau, who separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023, reportedly began their romance last summer. Perry was previously engaged to Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. She officially confirmed her relationship with Trudeau in December 2025 and they made their red carpet debut in June 2026. Perry has described herself as feeling more grounded and "very in love" since meeting Trudeau.
