Singer Katy Perry has spoken glowingly about her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, describing his support as being "on a different level" compared to her past partners.
Perry, 41, made these comments on Wednesday while attending the Los Angeles screening of her new concert film, "Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour - Live from Paris." She praised Trudeau, 54, for his presence and support over their year-long relationship.
"He's just there to support," Perry told Entertainment Tonight. She elaborated that while she has had partners support her in the past, Trudeau's involvement is "definitely a different level."
Perry also recounted a "weird full circle" moment that solidified her feelings for Trudeau. While singing her 2010 song "Not Like the Movies" at a show with Trudeau in attendance, she realized the lyrics, which describe waiting for someone who matches one's energy, felt like they were about their relationship. She called the experience "mystical, magical."
The pop star began dating Trudeau in July 2025, shortly after her split from actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a six-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. Perry was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012 and had an on-again, off-again relationship with John Mayer between 2012 and 2015.
Perry also shared that she felt anxious when Trudeau attended one of her shows in Montreal. "I can't look at him. A lot of energy," she recalled. She emphasized her desire to live life without regrets, stating, "I'm having fun. I'm living my whole life. You want to call me the queen of cringe? I'm gonna suck the juice out of every single one of these fruits in this life."
She acknowledged that bouncing back after her split from Bloom was difficult. "It was hard before July 28, and then it got pretty. It got cute. It got really cute," she said, referring to the period after her breakup.
Perry and Trudeau were seen together at the FIFA World Cup 2026 U.S. opening ceremony on June 12.
