Katie Zacharia Named New White House Press Secretary

President Donald Trump has appointed Katie Zacharia, a California native and conservative commentator, as his new White House press secretary. Zacharia, who previously served as a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, will take over the prominent position.

Trump announced the appointment on Truth Social, stating, "It is my Great Honor to have just appointed, as Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia. Katie currently serves as Senior Communications Advisor to Truth Social (Trump Media & Technology Group), where she has been outstanding!"

Zacharia currently holds the position of Senior Communications Advisor for Trump Media & Technology Group, a role she assumed in June. She also serves as a legal advisor for Fix California, a conservative organization focused on election integrity, co-founded by former Trump administration official Ric Grenell.

Trump highlighted Zacharia's past involvement in his campaigns, noting her work in key swing states. "She was previously involved in my Campaigns, assisting in key Swing States, where we won 7 out of 7," Trump wrote. "She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning." He added, "She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA! I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our Country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the Media, the American People, and my Administration."

Zacharia succeeds Karoline Leavitt, who departed the role in August. She has not yet made a public statement regarding her new position. Republican Congressman Abraham Hamadeh congratulated Zacharia, writing on X, "Proud of my friend Katie Zacharia. She will represent President Trump and the Administration exceptionally well as the White House Press Secretary."

Zacharia, married to movie producer Tyler Zacharia, previously posted a family photo on Instagram showcasing their four children. Her career in Washington began in 2006 with an internship at the Republican National Committee while she attended Pepperdine University. She has also been vocal about conservative issues in California, recounting an incident where she felt backlash for wearing a "Team Trump 2024" hat to her gym, which she detailed in a California Post op-ed titled, "Why my gym caved to anti-MAGA bullies — and how I fought back."

Her appointment comes as the administration faces the midterm elections.
