Katie Zacharia Clashes With Piers Morgan Over Private Trump Conversations

Former White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia engaged in a heated exchange with Piers Morgan on his show, published Wednesday, regarding her brief tenure and private conversations with President Donald Trump.

Morgan immediately pressed Zacharia on her feelings about the controversy that led to her departure from the press secretary role after only five days. Zacharia's initial White House press briefing faced widespread criticism, particularly concerning her legal credentials. Ultimately, Trump publicly stated he had urged her to "reconsider" her position.

Despite the public nature of her exit, Zacharia remained steadfast in her refusal to disclose details of her private discussions with the president. When Morgan inquired about Trump telling reporters he asked Zacharia, "Is this really for you?", she responded, "Piers, I will keep private conversations between myself and the president confidential."

Morgan attempted to challenge her stance, noting that Trump himself had publicly shared aspects of their conversation. Zacharia countered by affirming her loyalty to Trump, stating, "I will continue fighting for him. I am ruthlessly loyal."

The interview grew more contentious when Morgan, appearing to lose patience, accused Zacharia of sounding like a "robot" and suggested Trump might have "plugged in" a program to dictate her responses. He also pointed out that her claimed loyalty seemed contradicted by her swift dismissal.

Zacharia expressed offense at the "robot" remark and stated, "I will not continue relitigating it." She attempted to shift the focus back to Trump, arguing that the interview should not be about her but about the president's actions, and that dwelling on her own media treatment would ignore what the media "has ruthlessly done to President Trump."

Morgan concluded by expressing resignation, noting that the original purpose of the interview was to discuss Zacharia and her time working for Trump, and that if she had changed her mind about that focus, it was acceptable but disappointing.
