Katie Price and her husband Lee Andrews have reportedly purchased a new puppy for £2,000 in Dubai, a move that has drawn criticism given the couple's history of pet fatalities and concerns over animal welfare. The acquisition of the new dog comes shortly after the death of one of Price's Sphynx cats, according to reports.
Price, 48, has faced scrutiny over her treatment of animals, with a documented record of multiple pets dying while under her care. These include five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon. Animal charities have previously condemned Price for her continued acquisition of pets following these incidents.
A Pattern of Pet Loss
The list of animals that have died while in Price's care is extensive. In 2017, a horse was killed by a car after escaping its field. The same year, two Sphynx cats, Dobby and Hagrid, were reportedly put up for sale due to conflicts with other pets. In 2018, her German Shepherd, Queenie, was killed in a hit-and-run incident. Also in 2018, a pet chameleon named Marvin reportedly died, with Price allegedly attributing it to a "broken heart" after her son moved out, though financial difficulties leading to inadequate heating for the reptile were also cited.
Further incidents include a hedgehog named Peggy, acquired in 2019, which sparked backlash from fans concerned about its safety around other animals. Later that year, an Alsatian named Bear was given away after several near-death experiences, including escaping onto a busy road. In 2020, another Alsatian, Sparkle, was killed on the road, similar to the fate of Queenie.
That same year, a French bulldog named Rolo died after becoming trapped in an electric armchair. Price later stated she was advised to administer cannabis oil to Rolo, which a vet suggested might have encouraged it to seek a confined space. In 2021, a French bulldog named Precious, a gift from then-fiancé Carl Woods, was reportedly given to a builder.
More recently, in 2022, Price's Chihuahuas Captain and Buddy were involved in separate incidents. Captain was lost while on holiday but later found, while Buddy was reportedly taken horse riding stuffed inside Price's jacket. Also in 2022, a Pomeranian named Sharon was killed by a car after allegedly escaping onto the road. In June 2023, Price's protection dog Blade was killed by a car. The following month, a German Shepherd puppy named Tank was reportedly given away after an incident on a TikTok live stream, with reports suggesting Price had lost interest in training him.
In June of the current year, Price's husband confirmed the death of another Sphynx cat. Despite these numerous losses and the resulting public and charitable criticism, Price and Andrews have acquired a new puppy, a pomsky, in Dubai.
