Katie Price has described her marriage to Lee Andrews as a "gimmicky joke," revealing that her family wants "nothing to do" with him. The former glamour model, 48, married Andrews, who has recently been released from prison for fraud, in January. He has yet to visit the UK to meet Price's family and friends due to a reported flight ban.
Price has previously defended her marriage despite what she acknowledges is evidence of Andrews being a conman. In a new interview, she stated that her family has no interest in meeting him, especially after he became a subject of social media ridicule. Andrews has faced mockery for his social media videos, including showcasing an AI-generated hairstyle, and has repeatedly denied claims he is a conman.
"I said to Lee when he got out of prison, 'don't go on socials'," Price stated, explaining that his online presence has made their relationship a "gimmicky joke." During an appearance on the show "This Morning," she added that her family's reluctance stems from a desire to protect her.
"My family want nothing to do with him because it's become such a joke now," Price said. "I want them to meet him but they're like 'no,' but they are protecting me. If you see my documentary you will see how many times men have let me down. They are protecting me that they don't want another one to use me or break me. I have had therapy. I won't let another man break me or use me."
Price's turbulent love life, including her past marriage to Peter Andre, is explored in her new Sky documentary series. Her family had described her marriage to Andre as "stifling."
Andrews has been accused by multiple ex-partners of defrauding them. One ex-partner, Dina Taji, claimed in January that Andrews took out a £200,000 mortgage in her name without her knowledge, leading to legal action and a travel ban from Dubai. Another ex, Crystal Janke, alleged that Andrews convinced her to invest £123,000 with the promise of a £1 million return. His ex-fiancée, Alana Percival, has also issued warnings on social media. Andrews has denied these allegations.
Andrews was previously held at Dubai's Al-Awir prison, with Price initially claiming he had been kidnapped. He has denied fraud charges, asserting he was imprisoned on suspicion of espionage and held in a state security building. He later claimed he was taken to the Qatar border at gunpoint.
Recent reports indicated that Andrews faces a deadline to pay outstanding debts to avoid being returned to prison. Documents revealed that these debts include £54,000 for a rental car and £15,000 to a UAE legal firm. His representative stated that Andrews requested 14 days to settle the amounts, citing his wife's location outside the country and his inability to access his bank account. A source added that Andrews stated Price has been supportive but has not paid his debts.
