Katie Price Accuses Ex-Husband's Lawyer of 'Lying' in Heated Rape Trial Exchange

Katie Price has accused the lawyer of her ex-husband, Kieran Hayler, of attempting to 'turn the case against her' after being called a 'liar' during a contentious exchange in court. Hayler faces charges of rape and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in West Sussex in 2016, allegations he denies.

During cross-examination at Lewes Crown Court, Price addressed Hayler's lawyer, Arlette Piercy, stating, 'It was all wrong what he did. He's just a wrong'un, I know he's done stuff with the (complainant), I got the messages.' Price added, 'You shouldn't turn this case against me. The real reason why we're here is what he's done to a child, not me.'

In a heated moment, Price directly asked Piercy, 'Are you calling me a liar?' to which the lawyer reportedly replied, 'I am.' An angered Price responded, 'I don't need to be here. You can see in black and white something's gone on. I won't have anybody call me a liar.'

When Piercy referenced 'cocaine and booze benders,' Price retorted, 'That's discrimination.' She claimed, 'Everyone knows I self-medicated on coke due to Kieran introducing it.' She asserted, 'You are wrong and trying to discriminate me. The press know it all because of my journey. I ended up in therapy and tried to kill myself twice. You're not going to slander my name. I don't care if you are a barrister, you are not going to slander my name like that. I don't need to sit here like a therapy session.'

The court has previously heard that Hayler believes his former wife may be orchestrating a 'campaign' against him. The investigation into the allegations began in 2021 after the alleged victim contacted the NSPCC, which then referred the matter to the police. Hayler was interviewed in January 2022 and denied all accusations.

Price has also denied claims that she is 'angry and vengeful' towards Hayler. Earlier in the trial, she testified that she did not hold animosity towards him, even after he had an affair with their nanny. Jurors were told that Price had intentionally hired the nanny believing she was not attractive enough to prompt an affair, but Hayler proceeded to have a ten-month relationship with her.

During Tuesday's proceedings, Piercy suggested to Price, 'You are angry and vengeful towards the defendant Kieran Hayler, you have evidenced a vendetta against him over a number of years,' which Price denied. She described their split as amicable.

When questioned about the nanny, Price confirmed she chose her because she was 'not very attractive and she was a little bit overweight,' hoping to prevent infidelity, but acknowledged that Hayler still had an affair with her.

The court also heard that Price had messaged the alleged victim, stating she had heard Hayler and the girl had kissed and that he had 'tried it on' with her, adding, 'I will make you a little star.' When cross-examined about the phrase 'little star,' Price called it a 'figure of speech' with 'no agenda or nothing behind it.'

On Monday, Price told the court she was 'really shocked' by the allegations, describing it as a 'different kettle of fish' because it involved a child. Hayler, who was married to Price at the time of the alleged offenses, denies the charges. The couple divorced in 2021. The alleged victim is not related to either Hayler or Price. The trial is ongoing.
