Journalist Katie Couric experienced a "freaky" health scare that resulted in temporary memory loss and confusion about current events, including the identity of the president. The incident occurred on June 27 while Couric, 69, was participating in two panels at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado.

In an essay published on her Substack, titled "The Day I'll Never Remember," Couric described being "out of it" during the panels. When asked for the month, year, and the name of the president, she provided incorrect answers. "I wasn't sure of the month. I thought it was 2024. And I believed Joe Biden was president," Couric wrote.

Following the event, she was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital. Doctors initially suspected a stroke, but she was later diagnosed with transient global amnesia, a condition characterized by a sudden, temporary inability to form new memories. Couric stated that while she is relieved the episode was not more serious, several hours of that Saturday in June remain a blank. Couric's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Mail.
