Opera singer Katherine Jenkins and her husband Andrew Levitas were seated in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Monday, in close proximity to David Beckham, nearly a decade after a public feud involving an alleged criticism of Jenkins' OBE by Beckham.

Jenkins, 46, and Levitas sat in the row behind Beckham, 51, who was accompanied by his mother, Sandra. This seating arrangement mirrored that of the previous year's tournament.

The controversy first surfaced in 2017 with a series of leaked emails, in which Beckham was reportedly critical of Jenkins being awarded an OBE. The messages allegedly questioned the reasoning behind her honor, referencing her performances for troops and charities. One alleged email stated: "Katherine Jenkins OBE for what? Singing at the rugby and going to see the troops plus taking coke. F****** joke."

Jenkins was awarded an OBE in 2014 for her services to various charities and for her efforts in entertaining troops in war zones. At the time of the leaked emails, Beckham's representatives dismissed the claims, stating that the emails were "hacked and doctored" and presented an "inaccurate picture."

Beckham was formally knighted by King Charles III in November 2025 for his contributions to sport and charity. Reports from 2018 indicated Jenkins was still awaiting an apology from Beckham regarding the alleged comments.

Jenkins has previously spoken about the incident, expressing disappointment but also pride in her achievements. She stated in 2018, "You're just minding your own business and you get caught up in this massive storm. You just think, 'Aw, I wasn't doing anything.' To get caught up in that wasn't pleasant."

She added, "I also don't feel the need to defend this, by the way. I know what I've done and when I got the OBE it was given to me for music, and for charity."

When asked if she was angry, Jenkins responded, "It's obviously disappointing. I've never heard anything from them about it."

The opera star and the former England footballer had reportedly been at odds earlier, when Jenkins denied an affair with Beckham on Twitter in 2012. Leaked emails in 2017 also suggested Beckham's alleged stance on the Scottish referendum and his investment strategies.

During Monday's event at Wimbledon, Beckham turned to take a selfie with his mother, with Jenkins reportedly turning her head away at one point.
