Katherine Heigl has placed her expansive home in the Utah mountains on the market for $10.6 million. The actress, known for her roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and "27 Dresses," purchased the land in 2007 with her husband, musician Josh Kelley. They built the 8,352-square-foot home in 2008 and relocated from Los Angeles to Utah full-time in 2012.
Heigl told The Wall Street Journal that the decision to sell has been difficult, describing herself as a "homebody and creature of habit." However, she noted that as their children grow and become independent, the large home and land feel excessive for just herself and her husband.
The property features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, including two primary suites. The great room boasts high ceilings and a prominent 30-foot steel fireplace.
An open floor plan connects the dining and living areas.
The kitchen is equipped with a large center island that extends into a dining area, complemented by unique light fixtures.
Additional structures on the property include a detached space that Heigl has utilized as an art studio. This versatile area can also serve as a guest suite, gym, or home office.
The estate also features a heated swimming pool and multiple landscaped lawns. The primary bedroom includes a fireplace, a separate sitting area, a walk-in closet, and an en-suite bathroom.
An outdoor terrace offers a seating area with mountain views.
The backyard is complete with a firepit.
And a large swimming pool area.
Heigl's career began in her teenage years, with early roles in films like "My Father the Hero" and "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory." She gained wider recognition on the television series "Roswell" before her breakout performance as Izzie Stevens on "Grey's Anatomy" in 2005, which earned her an Emmy Award. This success led to a film career, with roles in movies such as "Knocked Up" and "The Ugly Truth."
Following her Emmy win, Heigl withdrew her name from consideration the following year, citing that she "did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant" another nomination. This, combined with public comments about long working hours and family time, contributed to her being labeled as "difficult" and her character being written out of "Grey's Anatomy." Reflecting on this period, Heigl told Variety that the show's rapid success gave her "a false sense of confidence" and that she later had to re-evaluate her public persona and learn to "tune out all of the noise."
Heigl has since appeared in films like "One for the Money" and "Unforgettable," as well as TV shows including "State of Affairs," "Suits," and "Firefly Lane."
In January 2024, Heigl reunited on stage with some original "Grey's Anatomy" cast members at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.
