Kate Middleton Dazzles in Yellow Gown and Tiara at State Banquet

Catherine, Princess of Wales, captivated attendees at a state banquet held at Windsor Castle, wearing a vibrant yellow Elie Saab gown paired with the prestigious Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara. The banquet, held Tuesday night, honored the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarik al Said.

The Princess of Wales's striking yellow gown featured a keyhole neckline, braided detailing, and a sheer cape, reportedly from the designer's Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The opulent gown, priced at $6,500, was accessorized with significant royal jewels. She chose Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara, a piece famously favored by Princess Diana, who last wore it in 1991. Middleton has worn the tiara since 2015. The ensemble was further adorned with the Greville diamond chandelier earrings and Queen Mary’s diamond choker bracelet, along with a gold Anya Hindmarch clutch and Aquazzura gold sequined pumps. Middleton also wore her official regalia, including the badge, sash, and star of the Royal Victorian Order.

Earlier in the day, Middleton welcomed the Sultan of Oman to the United Kingdom. For this formal occasion, she wore a bespoke hunter green Alexander McQueen coat over a black lace turtleneck top. Her accessories included a matching fascinator, a Chanel flap bag, and the Queen Alexandra Three Feathers Brooch. This historical brooch, dating back to 1863, was a wedding gift to Queen Alexandra and has been passed down through generations of Princesses of Wales, including Princess Diana and Queen Camilla, before Middleton began wearing it exclusively in 2022. The brooch features diamonds, rubies, and emeralds, set in gold mined in North Wales, and includes a motif of three ostrich feathers with the motto “Ich dien,” meaning “I serve.” Middleton chose to wear the detachable emerald drop, which complemented her green attire and symbolized one of Oman’s national colors.

Prince William attended the state banquet alongside his wife, dressed in a Windsor tailcoat with the insignia of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Lesser George.

The Queen Alexandra Three Feathers Brooch is a notable piece in the royal jewelry collection, traditionally worn by the holder of the title Princess of Wales. Its versatility allows it to be worn as a pin or a necklace, a style favored by Princess Diana. Middleton has frequently chosen this brooch since acquiring it, often opting for historical pieces from the royal archives.
