Kate Gosselin Responds to Son Collin's Abuse Allegations

Kate Gosselin has responded to renewed allegations of abuse from her son, Collin, stating that her children are aware of her true character. The 51-year-old former star of TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8" addressed comments on a TikTok video posted in celebration of her boyfriend Steve Neild's birthday.

When a fan praised Gosselin for making "sacrifices that no mama should have had to make alone," she replied, "I know who I am and my kids know who I truly am and to me, that’s all that matters." The comment section of the video was reportedly filled with discussions related to Collin's allegations.

Collin Gosselin recently released a memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," detailing claims of physical and emotional abuse during his upbringing. He alleges that his mother used money to manipulate his sister, Hannah, and has spoken about his strained relationship with his siblings, with whom he claims to have not spoken in 10 years.

Gosselin has previously denied her son's allegations. In response to another comment on her TikTok, she agreed with a sentiment that those who haven't experienced such situations are lucky, adding, "Thank you! Yes! They have NO idea how lucky they are if they have no idea what it’s like having a child or relative with mental illness."

The reality series "Jon & Kate Plus 8" followed Jon and Kate Gosselin as they raised their eight children, including twins Mady and Cara, and sextuplets (Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Joel, and Leah). The couple divorced in 2009.

Collin has maintained estrangement from his mother since 2016, when he was sent to a behavioral health institution. His father, Jon Gosselin, gained legal and physical custody of Collin in 2018 after Collin was released from the facility. Jon also obtained custody of Hannah, while the remaining six children continued to live with Kate.
