Kate Garraway experienced a moment of unexpected comedy on Thursday's "Good Morning Britain" when she was caught attempting to discreetly return to the studio after a brief absence.
Presenting alongside Adil Ray, Garraway had stepped away during a commercial break for a quick trip to the restroom. However, her timing proved unfortunate as she was forced to creep back onto the sofa while Ray was interviewing "Strictly Come Dancing" professionals Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu about their appearance on "Celebrity Hunted."
As a segment on the stars' time on the show played, a slight commotion was heard, and Dowden exclaimed, "Oh, good morning!" The camera then cut back to a flustered Garraway sliding into her seat.
"I'm so sorry... I took a little bit too long in the shower, in the loo," Garraway explained, before erupting into laughter. Ray responded with mock exasperation, joking about the UK's ongoing drought and water conservation efforts. "She hasn't heard about the drought and the short showers! It's alright, we're here now."
The UK has been experiencing a significant heatwave, with some areas facing drought conditions after prolonged periods without rain. Temperatures have soared, and seven areas, including London and Hertfordshire where the "GMB" studios are located, have been officially declared to be in drought.
Following the lighthearted interruption, the conversation returned to Dowden and Gu's experience on "Celebrity Hunted." The show challenges celebrities to evade capture for 21 days, a task Dowden described as more intense than "Strictly," with Gu agreeing. They recounted how a forgotten detail on Gu's phone nearly led to their capture by the Hunters.
Dowden expressed pride in participating in the show, which was produced in conjunction with the Stand Up To Cancer fundraising campaign. As a breast cancer survivor, the cause holds personal significance for her.
Later in the program, discussion touched upon the upcoming "Strictly Come Dancing" series and a reported shake-up involving new presenters. Dowden emphasized that the core competition format of the show remains unchanged, highlighting the importance of the performances and contestant progress.
"Celebrity Hunted" is scheduled to return on Monday, August 3, at 9 p.m. on Channel 4.
