Kate Forrester's Descent: From Glamorous PR to Alcoholism

Kate Forrester once embodied the aspirational lifestyle, working with luxury fashion brands, enjoying the social scene in Bondi, and attending parties with celebrities. However, this glamorous facade hid a severe struggle with alcohol that eventually led to her vanishing from work and a concerned friend discovering the depth of her private battle.

Forrester's career in fashion and public relations saw her engage with high-profile designers, including Chanel. Her life in Bondi was characterized by a vibrant social calendar, often involving high-profile events and celebrity interactions. This period, while appearing successful and exciting, masked an escalating reliance on alcohol. She described herself as "always the girl at the parties who was drinking too much... always the one who was drunk straight away, throwing up."

The drinking, however, moved beyond social occasions. Forrester recounted that her consumption escalated to solitary drinking at home, progressing to every night, and eventually, during the day. The promises she made to herself each morning to curb her drinking became increasingly difficult to keep.

Her descent into alcoholism led to her disappearance from work, prompting a worried friend to check on her. This intervention revealed the extent of her problem, leading to her eventual admission to rehab at the age of 28, with her father driving her to the facility. Despite the challenges, Forrester's ambition remained. She eventually returned to her career and later established her own marketing business, kafandco. She met her partner in 2019, and they now have four children.
