Kate Cassidy, girlfriend of the late singer Liam Payne, paid tribute on what would have been his 33rd birthday. Cassidy shared a montage of photos on Instagram on Saturday, accompanied by the message: 'Your birthday will always be your day. Loving you, remembering you, missing you always. Happy birthday Liam.' The images included Payne with their rescue dog Nala, as well as moments from nights out and relaxing in their garden.
Fans expressed their support in the comments, with messages such as 'sending you so much love always' and 'Happy birthday Liam!'
This occasion follows Cassidy's recent revelation that she is having a tattoo tribute removed from her hand. She shared a video from a tattoo removal studio as the '444' design was lasered from her left hand. This occurred 21 months after Payne's death in October 2024, at the age of 31. The tattoo, along with an 'LP' on her wrist, was inked in the months following Payne's passing. The number '444' held significance for the couple, referred to as their 'angel number.'
Cassidy explained that she decided to have some tattoos removed because they were 'done poorly' and stated her intention to have them redone eventually. She frequently posts tributes to Payne, often signing off with their '444' angel number.
Earlier in the month, Cassidy shared an emotional video on Instagram detailing her grief and attempts to move on. She spoke of reading old love letters from Payne, describing how they sometimes amplified her sadness while also providing comfort. She mentioned having a collection of letters, journals, and books left by the singer.
In one letter, Payne expressed his desire to be engaged and married to Cassidy within a year, signing it with 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444.' He also wrote a message for her birthday, which included advice on self-love and navigating life's challenges: 'I hope whenever you take a journey you remember I'm alongside you body and spirit. In every drive you remember how much you have driven me and all the hopes and dreams I have for your future. You're going to be a superstar if you learn how to love yourself the way I love you. So drive slow and remember to take your foot off the gas in life too. Your 20s are so difficult and you're halfway through navigating them. You're not lost at all my love. You're taking the gorgeous road to finding yourself and I can't wait to be there for every speed bump, left and right turn and roundabout. I love you.'
Payne died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. An autopsy revealed alcohol and cocaine were found in his system.
