Kash Patel Demands Senate Hearing End Amid Heated Exchange

FBI Director Kash Patel requested an end to a contentious Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday, citing what he described as personal attacks from Democratic members. The hearing, which lasted nearly five hours, saw Patel facing numerous questions regarding his tenure as FBI director, his personal life, and alleged misuse of FBI resources.

At one point, Democratic Senator Adam Schiff questioned Patel about reports of his girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, receiving security detail from the FBI's SWAT team. Patel vehemently denied the allegations, calling them a "total lie" and refusing to answer further, which led to him addressing the committee chairman, Chuck Grassley. "Mr. Chairman, I've maintained decorum through this entire hearing," Patel stated. "Democrats have called me a thug, a liar, and baselessly attacked my loved ones—continuing to jeopardize the safety of me and mine." He urged Grassley to conclude the hearing, asserting that Schiff "has no interest in oversight."

Grassley did not immediately grant Patel's request but attempted to restore order and reiterate instructions on decorum. The exchanges between Patel and the Democratic committee members were frequently heated and at times personal.

Senator Cory Booker, a Democrat from New Jersey, was particularly critical, stating, "We have a lackey. And frankly, he's not even a good lackey." Booker continued his critique, likening Patel to an "18-year-old kid who wants to join a fraternity that he could never be a member of, doing keg stands and chugging with friends." He concluded by calling Patel "an embarrassment to the agency—and wouldn't qualify even to be an FBI agent."

Wilkins, a 26-year-old country singer, was present at the hearing, seated several feet behind Patel, and remained stone-faced throughout the proceedings. The questioning also touched upon Patel's alleged drinking habits, though he had previously stated he had "never been intoxicated on the job."
