Karoline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, announced her resignation from the position, stating a desire to spend more time with her family.
In a post on X, Leavitt expressed her gratitude to President Trump and the White House team. She affirmed her commitment to remaining a "vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party." Leavitt stated that since returning to the White House after the birth of her daughter, she felt she could not adequately fulfill the demanding role of Press Secretary while also dedicating the necessary time and attention to her two young children.
She added that it had been a privilege to serve alongside accomplished individuals and that she looked forward to supporting them in the future. Leavitt has a history of working with Trump, beginning as a White House intern in the Office of Presidential Correspondence in 2018 while a student at Saint Anselm College. She also served as Communications Director for Rep. Elise Stefanik and previously ran an unsuccessful congressional campaign in New Hampshire.
President Trump indicated that Leavitt's departure is to allow for more family time, and noted that she will also serve as one of his "top outside advisors."
It remains unclear who will succeed Leavitt as White House Press Secretary. The White House has been contacted for comment.
