Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt faced criticism on Thursday after declaring her commitment to speaking the truth at the Republican Party's midterm convention in Dallas. Leavitt, who departed her role last month, began her address by contrasting her current platform with her previous position.

"It feels good to be back behind a podium," Leavitt stated, adding, "it feels much better speaking to a stadium full of patriots than a briefing room full of journalists." She proceeded to criticize Democrats, asserting that Americans "cannot be a wealthy people if we elect extreme, liberal, socialist Democrats who will raise our rent and taxes, take away our private property and kill the American dream."

Leavitt then made a statement that attracted particular attention: "Here’s another harsh truth for you. I like to speak the truth."

The remark drew immediate reactions from critics on social media, with one individual commenting, "I literally laughed out loud when I heard that."
