Karoline Leavitt Assisting Trump in Search for New White House Press Secretary

Karoline Leavitt, who previously served as Donald Trump's White House press secretary, stated she is assisting the former president in finding a replacement for the role after the latest appointee, Katie Zacharia, departed after only five days. Leavitt offered her help to Trump to select someone capable of serving him and the country effectively.

Leavitt stepped down from her position in late August, citing a desire to spend more time with her two young children. Zacharia took over the role earlier this month but became the shortest-serving White House press secretary in U.S. history.

"White House press secretary is a tough job. I know that because I did it, obviously for almost two years, and many people say it's one of the hardest jobs in politics," Leavitt told Fox News Digital. She noted that the position requires significant preparation and that an individual's performance can sometimes only be assessed under pressure. "We wish Katie the best. The job obviously was not for her, but we wish her and her family well," Leavitt added.

Regarding the ongoing search, Leavitt indicated that Trump is considering various candidates, and noted that many individuals are interested in the position. "Nobody understands the press better than Donald Trump. He knows he needs someone who is tough, who is smart, who understands his policies, who is loyal, and who can go out there and put up a fight," she said.

Leavitt, who previously served as Trump's press secretary for his 2024 presidential campaign, was the youngest person to hold the White House press secretary role. She also previously worked as an intern in the Trump White House, as communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik, and as spokeswoman for the MAGA Inc. super PAC. In 2022, she ran for Congress in New Hampshire's 1st District but lost the general election.

Leavitt stated she has no plans to run for public office in the future, expressing a focus on her family. She is set to become a Fox News contributor in November.
