Karl Stefanovic is scheduled to deliver the keynote speech at an upcoming black-tie dinner for Prince Alfred College, an elite South Australian private boarding school. The event, set for July 31 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, was reportedly booked several months ago.
The 51-year-old television personality is expected to earn a significant sum, potentially in the tens of thousands of dollars, for the engagement. This comes after Stefanovic experienced a series of professional setbacks in recent weeks, including his departure from the Channel Nine morning show 'Today' and the radio program 'The Long Weekend' on ARN.
Stefanovic's contract with Channel Nine, which had six months and over $1 million remaining, was terminated last week. This followed his interview with commentator Tommy Robinson on his podcast, 'The Karl Stefanovic Show.' His role on 'The Long Weekend,' co-hosted with Eddie McGuire, also concluded abruptly after he appeared on only two episodes. His contract for this radio show was reportedly worth approximately $200,000 for the remainder of the year. McGuire is expected to continue hosting the show without him.
Amidst these professional changes, websites for 'Kyle and Karl' were recently registered by shock jock Kyle Sandilands' company, King Kyle Group Pty Ltd, fueling speculation about a potential partnership between the two personalities.
Reports also indicate that Channel 7 and Network Ten have privately ruled out hiring Stefanovic, with The Australian suggesting he is unlikely to front a show on Australian commercial television again. Despite these professional challenges, Stefanovic is not anticipated to face significant financial difficulties, owing to a property portfolio valued at over $20 million and other assets.
