Karl Stefanovic Denies Missing Podcast Settlement Deadline
A representative for the Australian personality refutes claims of a late payment to former partner Keshnee Kemp Ibrahim.
A representative for Karl Stefanovic has denied allegations that the Australian television personality missed a settlement payment deadline to his former podcast partner, Keshnee Kemp Ibrahim.
Reports indicated that the deadline for an initial payment following Ibrahim's exit from 'The Karl Stefanovic Show' lapsed on Friday, October 16. However, Stefanovic's manager, Sharon Finnigan, stated on Tuesday that the matter is "settled" and characterized the claims of a late payment as "plainly wrong and incorrect."
Details surrounding the financial terms of the settlement have varied. The Australian newspaper reported that Kemp Ibrahim received approximately $25,000 for her stake in the venture, contradicting earlier suggestions of a seven-figure deal. According to the report, the company's operating account held around $350,000 when the pair ceased collaborating at the end of August. Stefanovic and Ibrahim were reportedly each entitled to 45 percent of this amount, totaling $157,500 each.
Kemp Ibrahim publicly disputed these figures, commenting online that the reported amount was "Not true." This comment, verified by news.com.au, was made beneath an article published by The Australian's Media Diary.
While news.com.au had previously reported insider suggestions that the agreement could be worth seven figures, neither party has publicly disclosed the settlement's financial terms, and The Australian's latest claims remain unconfirmed.
Sources cited by The Australian suggested that the podcast business struggled to achieve profitability despite a significant online audience, operating at or near a break-even point. The reported $350,000 account balance represents the company's funds at the time of the split, not its total revenue or profit.
The company was also reportedly owed approximately $60,000 in outstanding advertising invoices, which could result in further payments to both former partners once collected. For Ibrahim, these proceeds would need to be offset against her reported initial investment of $120,000 in the venture. The Australian also claimed she incurred six-figure legal bills during the dispute.
The settlement allows Stefanovic to acquire Ibrahim's 45 percent stake in 123 Podcast Pty Ltd, the company behind his independent podcast. In a statement released the previous week, a spokeswoman confirmed that an agreement had been reached.
"Mr. Stefanovic and Ms. Ibrahim have today agreed to settle the litigation and dispute between them," the statement read. "While the terms of this settlement are confidential, the arrangement results in Mr. Stefanovic acquiring the interests of Ms. Ibrahim in the company and Ms. Ibrahim exiting the company as a shareholder and director."
The statement also confirmed that Ibrahim agreed to discontinue the legal proceedings she had initiated against Stefanovic.
