The Kardashian-Jenner family convened in La Jolla, California, over the weekend to hold a celebration of life for their late grandmother, Mary Jo Campbell. Campbell, the mother of matriarch Kris Jenner, passed away on July 16 at the age of 91. A death certificate later revealed her cause of death to be acute cardiopulmonary arrest following a months-long battle with metastatic lung cancer.
The event took place on Sunday, July 26, at the La Valencia Hotel, which also marked what would have been Campbell's 92nd birthday. Kim Kardashian attended the somber gathering with her youngest son, Psalm. She was seen wearing a low-cut white gown and Balenciaga sunglasses.
Kris Jenner was photographed on a hotel deck in a jeweled white jacket and pants, also wearing sunglasses. Also present were Kris's daughters Kourtney, who was accompanied by her husband Travis Barker and their children Mason and Penelope, and Khloe, who was joined by her friend Malika Haqq and ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson. Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner were also in attendance with their respective partners, Jacob Elordi and Timothée Chalamet, though they avoided being photographed.
Other attendees included Kris's niece Natalie Zettel and reality TV star Kyle Richards. According to reports, the celebration of life lasted three hours, featuring live jazz music and floral arrangements in homage to Campbell's love for flowers. Guests were reportedly given 'Celebration of Life memory books' upon departure.
Following the event, the family departed for Los Angeles on private jets. Kim Kardashian was seen changing into pink sweats before boarding a plane with Psalm and her daughter Chicago. Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were seen arriving at the tarmac in an SUV, while Kylie Jenner's private jet was also photographed arriving in Los Angeles, with her children Stormi and Aire also seen disembarking.
Mary Jo Campbell, known to viewers as 'MJ,' was a recurring figure on the family's reality show, 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians.' She also had a career prior to the show, including a stint as a model and owning a children's clothing boutique in La Jolla called Shannon & Company. Campbell had previously overcome battles with breast and colon cancer. Her death in 2024 followed that of her daughter Karen Houghton earlier the same year.
