The Kardashian-Jenner family convened in La Jolla, California, over the weekend to hold a celebration of life for their late grandmother, Mary Jo Campbell. Campbell, the mother of Kris Jenner, passed away on July 16 at the age of 91. Her death certificate later revealed that she died of acute cardiopulmonary arrest following a months-long battle with metastatic lung cancer.
The gathering took place at the La Valencia Hotel on Sunday, July 26, which would have been Campbell's 92nd birthday. Kim Kardashian attended the service with her youngest son, Psalm, dressed in a white gown and Balenciaga sunglasses. Psalm matched his mother in a nearly all-white outfit.
Kris Jenner was seen on a hotel deck, dressed in a jeweled white jacket and pants, while other daughters Kourtney and Khloe were also in attendance. Kourtney was accompanied by her husband Travis Barker and their children Mason and Penelope. Khloe was joined by her longtime friend Malika Haqq and her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson.
Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner were also present with their respective partners, Jacob Elordi and Timothee Chalamet, though they reportedly avoided being photographed. Other guests included Kris's niece Natalie Zettel and reality television star Kyle Richards.
The celebration of life, held in the hotel's bar area, reportedly lasted three hours. A live band performed jazz music, a genre favored by Campbell, and floral arrangements decorated the space. Guests were given "Celebration of Life memory books" as they departed.
Following the memorial, the family departed on private jets back to Los Angeles. Kim Kardashian was seen changing into pink sweats before boarding her aircraft with Psalm and her daughter Chicago. Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi were photographed arriving at the tarmac, as were Kylie Jenner and her children, Stormi and Aire.
Mary Jo Campbell, often referred to as MJ, was a prominent figure in her family's rise to fame through the reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She also made appearances on Celebrity Family Feud and in a KKW Beauty campaign. Campbell was a witness at Kourtney Kardashian's 2022 wedding to Travis Barker.
Before her public life with the family's reality show, Campbell pursued a modeling career in her youth.
