Kansas Mom Released Without Charges After Truck Plunges Into Youth Soccer Field, Killing Two

A 34-year-old woman from Kansas has been released without charges after driving her truck into a crowded youth soccer field, resulting in two fatalities and ten injuries. The incident occurred Saturday evening at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita.

Killed in the crash were 6-year-old Adrian Cole and 35-year-old Nicholas Schafer, both from McPherson, Kansas. The victims were not related, according to the Wichita Police Department.

The driver's Chevrolet pickup truck was reportedly parked near the soccer fields before accelerating onto one of the fields where children were playing. One of the driver's own children was present at the sports complex but was on a different field at the time of the collision.

Victims of the incident ranged in age from 5 to 68 years old. The Wichita Police Department stated on Sunday that the driver has been released pending the results of toxicology tests and a mechanical examination of the vehicle.

"No charges have been filed at this time, and investigators continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash," the department said.
