A Kansas man, Scott Denning, 52, was arrested early Saturday morning following a physical altercation at the Arthur B. Sim Golf Course in Wichita on Friday evening. Denning was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, assault, battery, and criminal damage to property.
According to the Wichita Police Department, officers responded to the golf course around 6:20 p.m. on Friday. The preliminary investigation indicated that Denning approached three Wichita men to apologize for an errant golf shot. An argument ensued, escalating into a physical fight.
During the altercation, Denning allegedly chased two of the Wichita men while armed with a golf club, striking one of them in the head. Police reported that one of the Wichita men, aged 38, was knocked unconscious, and another, aged 52, was hit in the head with the club.
Denning himself sustained significant injuries during the brawl, with a mugshot released by the jail showing one side of his face severely swollen. He received medical treatment at a local hospital before his arrest and booking.
Denning was released on a $50,000 bond, though he remained in the Sedgwick County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no other arrests have been made.
