Mia Bieniemy, wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot twice by her son Elijah and has undergone surgery, according to new details from the aftermath of the incident. She was shot in the left forearm and shoulder, with bullet fragments remaining in her after the operation.

Police responded to the Bieniemy family home in Virginia on Sunday evening, where officers were seen carrying an injured woman from the residence. Neighbors reported hearing screams around the time of the gunshots. Elijah Bieniemy, 27, has been arrested and is being held without bond. He faces charges including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling. He reportedly has no prior record.

Eric Bieniemy has left the Chiefs' training camp indefinitely to be with his wife. His return to the team in the offseason had been met with excitement, with players like Travis Kelce expressing their admiration for him as a coach.

Neighbors described Elijah as quiet and not someone they associated with trouble. Mia Bieniemy is reported to be in stable condition in the hospital. Her first court hearing is scheduled for August 31.
