Vice President Kamala Harris paused during a campaign event, appearing to await applause after delivering a line she thought was a "killer." The moment occurred on Friday at the Sacramento campaign headquarters of Dr. Richard Pan, who is running in California's 6th Congressional District.
Harris was speaking in support of Pan's candidacy against Representative Kevin Kiley, a former Republican now running as an independent. She characterized Kiley as someone "trying to hide behind being an independent now." Harris then mimicked Kiley, saying, "Oh, I'm not that guy. I'm now this guy." She continued, "Well, this guy who was that guy and is still this guy and that guy." After delivering the line, Harris waited for a response from the audience before erupting into her characteristic laughter.

The Vice President's visit to Sacramento was part of her broader campaign trail efforts ahead of the November midterm elections. She is also scheduled to appear at events for Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff and Nevada gubernatorial candidate Aaron Ford.
Harris has been described as a potential contender for the White House in 2028, but she has stated that electing Democrats in the upcoming midterms is her immediate focus. In a September interview, she emphasized that the midterms are "full time occupying my thoughts, my mind and my work."
Prediction markets show Dr. Pan as the favorite in his race, with Kalshi indicating a 93.4 percent chance of his victory, compared to 11 percent for Kiley.
